Sometimes You Just Have To Jump Back In

October 14, 2010 8:45 pm

I’m not really sure what happened to make me quit blogging. Maybe it was the curse of actually attending BlogHer, or the fact that we’re still in the process of buying a house and selling ours. Or the kids and their health/behavioral issues. I guess it’s a combination of everything and I miss it. Somehow along the way, I lost my funny and turned into one of those whiny, complainy types. So I stopped blogging. The days turned to weeks and I wasn’t sure how to get back.

But finally, here I am. And I’m still funny. Damn it.

A lot has happened since I’ve last posted. Two beach vacations, a wedding and a new school year. Some behavioral improvements and some setbacks with the kids. Absolutely nothing on the house front, we are still waiting on one of the seller’s banks to stop playing hardball. I learned a new compound swear word, “fuckpuddle” and Chase bank is being a real fuckpuddle about accepting our offer. Our house goes on the market Monday so we’ve been making final preparations to make things look sellable. Once the listing goes live, we’ll be living on the edge with the threat of having to evacuate the dogs and the kids on a moment’s notice so someone can tour the house.

The kids are huge now and growing in leaps and bounds. Elliot is yelling in full sentences and her little wiseguy personality cracks me up. She is snuggly and kissable and I could eat her up. Graham’s nickname is “Captain Questions” because he wakes up and falls asleep asking a barrage of questions, always needing to know how everything works and why. He brought his guitar to my parent’s wedding reception and sang “Hot Blooded” at my dad’s request. The crowd ate it up and I think the kid has a future in music.

The kids and their diets are insane. People seriously look at me like I’m a crazy person when I explain their dietary restrictions. We’re currently gluten, casein, soy and artificial dye free, plus mostly organic with no preservatives. Oh, and the newest addition is a low salicylate diet which is fucking insane. Basically, they react to most fruits and vegetables because of a naturally occurring aspirin like chemical and become hyper, aggressive and sleepless whenever they ingest forbidden foods. I spend my days and nights cooking and searching for suitable recipes that toddlers will actually eat. It’s all I can think about and it’s hell. I even ordered a Vitamix last week so now I’m an uber awesome blending/mixing/pureeing mofo. I’m pretty badass.

So that’s basically what we’ve been up to here in sunny Florida. Lots going on but still business as usual. And what about you, did I miss anything exciting while I was gone?

  1. Keely

    Yay! You’re back!
Well they’re darn cute kids no matter what their insanity.
X and Elliot will be a lovely couple. Of HAMS.

  2. Ginny Marie

Your kids have grown! And they are so darn cute! If you didn’t write about it, we’d never know they weren’t angels. (Wow, a triple negative sentence! Wonder what my English teacher would say about that!)

Anyway, good luck selling your house, and I hope the bank starts cooperating soon!

  3. Jenni

    There you are!

The kids, they are huge. And gorgeous.

  4. Sprite's Keeper

    Casey’a back! Fuckin’ A!
Sorry, needed to get that out. Look at the kiddos! Shame on you for letting them grow so much without a picture!
Really missed you, girl. Now if we can nail down a playdate with Mrs. Bear, we’d be good.

  5. Anne

Welcome back! I hope you aren’t just taunting us. You are still funny (but I always thought you were funny). Your kids are gorgeous! Good luck with the house sale.

  6. Jenni

I have seen Graham in action – playing his guitar, singing and with the hip wiggle/toe tap combo – he is stage ready… He rocks!

Question? Is fuckpuddle a noun or an adjective?

  7. Beth

Welcome back! I don’t know how it happened, but I actually got younger and wiser while you were gone…………

  8. Kendra

I’m so glad to see a post from you! Keep’em coming!

  9. lisa @boondockramblings

I have been in and out myself. Starting a photography business and Jonathan starting preschool. then I switched blog hosts and now my feed is apparently all messed up. So..I’m totally out there in the middle of nowhere with no one knowing I’m there. *sigh* Oh well!

    The kids are so beautiful!

  10. Michele

    Yay! Yay! Yay! You’re back.
I can now stop worrying like the mother hen that I am.

I think to answer Jenni’s question fuckpuddle can be both a noun and an adjective.

When did Elliot’s hair get so long?

  11. Mrsbear

Well that was unexpected. Glad to see you up and blogging. You’ve still got it. Fuckpuddle is gold.

Now where’s the video of Graham doing Hot Blooded?

  12. Andrea

The pics are fantastic. I love the first one of all of you.
Damn it. Blog more, I miss you. πŸ™‚

I hope this is your cycle of slowing down with everything else in life and that the good stuff is ready to get started.

  13. Captain Dumbass

Yay! Sorry I’m late. My demon has an appointment with the pediatrician/exorcist next week. Maybe I’ll need some tips from you. Or an alligator.

  14. robin

Wow. I am amazed at the cooking you’re doing but too distracted by the adorableness! And that includes your husband! You did good, Casey!

  15. Becky

Oh hells yes you’re still funny.

I love that family pic of you guys!

The diet thing, whoa. You are a dedicated mama.

I’m glad you came back solely to teach me “fuckpuddle.”

  16. Maggie @ Mind of a Mad Woman

YAY! Welcome back! I feel like my life is almost complete now that I have been taught “fuckpuddle”. That is fantastic!

  17. Pammie

I love reading your blog…keep it coming.

  18. SuziCate

Glad you’re back! I’ve missed you. Just be you, funny or not…I’ll read you! My funny has been gone most days, still have a sense of humor but been blogging about lots of our outdoor adventures…yes, I’ve gotten up off my lazy fat butt and am hiking and biking!

  19. Stacy (the Random Cool Chick)

Yay! You’re back! And yes, you have totally been missed. You’ve still got it.

LOVE that fall family foto! πŸ™‚ How did you let your kids grow so much during your absence? You were blinking too much, weren’t you? πŸ˜‰ Absolutely Adorable!

Good luck with the house sale – we’ll be jumping on that bandwagon in the not-too-distant future ourselves…not looking forward to having to clean up the house to make it ‘show ready’. πŸ˜‰

  20. Lin

Dang, woman, you have been busy!! I guess I will cut you some slack–but only a little. I missed you too much. πŸ™‚

The kids are ADORABLE. Too bad they can only eat cardboard on Tuesdays if the wind is blowing from the east. What is with those two???! Criminy. So what CAN they eat???

  21. bex

I forgot how good looking you all are! The kids are gorgeous and getting so big!

Your diet makes my head spin. I applaud you bc I don’t have the discipline for it. If I were in your position, my kids would have weird orange colored skin bc I would just give them carrots all day.

  22. FoN

Cute kid pics! Try not to let the food thing take over your life, ok? Seriously – how much dough have you invested in blenders so far this year? Ha – DOUGH! Get it?
    I kill me.

  23. kat (motherfonker)

    waaaaaaahhhh, full sentences huh.

me i havent been writing at motherfonker blog, but still writing bits and pieces at tumblr, and another work at home blog.

miss you case, lets chat sometime πŸ™‚

  24. Cyndi at The Adventures of HarryJack

I think fuckpuddle may usurp clusterfuck….depending on the situation, of course πŸ˜‰ Glad you got your mojo back – have missed you!
