I recently made the decision to go to BlogHer this summer in NYC. Location, location, location.. that and the fact that I’m going to meet a few of my favorite peeps in person made the trip a no brainer. When I hit submit and secured my airfare, a whole new form of motivation kicked in. I have to drop some poundage before I’m face to face with my bloggy pals. I will no longer have a computer to hide behind.
When I told Jamie about my new found motivation, he suggested I take the opposite route and try to beef up. “Just think, if you get up to 400 lbs this year, you can totally drop that and show up next year all thin and people will be like.. woah!!!”. Although I like the way that man thinks, I’m going with the so called “healthy” route and hitting the gym.
A good friend of mine has been trying to persuade me to join her gym. She goes to an all-women gym and loves it but I’m already paying for my membership at the YMCA. Since the kids go to the preschool there, I have to pay for the gym membership regardless. I haven’t been going though. At all. My standard excuses of kids not sleeping and gym overcrowding were quelling the guilty feelings somewhat but they were still there. My kids don’t sleep and it’s doubtful that they will anytime soon. The gym isn’t going to get any less crowded if I stop going for awhile. So, I joined and now I belong to TWO gyms. If that’s not enough to make someone skinny, I don’t know what is.
This morning after I drop the kids off at school, I will be meeting my friend for my first workout in some time. I made her promise to make me keep going and I’m hoping she holds up her end of the bargain. I guess you’ll see if the plan works if I run into you this year at BlogHer. Are you guys doing anything different with your fitness plan? Beef up or slim down? Huh?
