Welcome to week 35 of Club HASAY! Not sure what HASAY is? Read all about it here.
This week started off with a bang. I was feeling a little under the weather on Monday but I didn’t let that stop me. I headed to the gym that night after the kids were in bed. For an entire hour, I sweated my ass off on the elliptical and then my friend and I hit the weights. I’m sad to admit that the last time I’ve actually lifted weights was the week before my wedding, FOUR YEARS AGO. To be fair, I lift almost sixty pounds of children (Graham’s 37lbs plus Elliot’s 22lbs) several times a day so that has to count for something.
Monday night was spent sleepless and sweating. I had crazy-assed dreams and drifted in and out of consciousness. Every muscle in my body hurt and I was sweaty and feverish. I woke up on Tuesday with a full blown case of the plague and could barely function well enough to care for my kids.
On Tuesday, the thought of exercise was the last thing on my mind. Wednesday came and I needed to get out of the house and see another actual human being. Graham was sick too so we had spent the week so far in quarantine and I was jonesing for the outside world. I coaxed my friend Aimee into reforming the dessert club and we met up at Chilis for the forbidden cookie pie. I couldn’t breathe through my nose but it was totally worth it.
The moral of today’s story is that exercise is bad and the loss of taste buds is NOT an excuse to stop eating. Ok, fine. As I write this (Sunday night), I’m nursing the last of my sinus infection and hope to resume my gym attendance on Tuesday at the latest. Exercise prevails over dessert club once again!
Stay tuned next week for big HASAY changes.
