Today, I am happy to participate in the world famous Funky Foto Flashback hosted by Bex over at Adventures of the Grigg Boys. If you feel like playing along, scoot on over to her place and grab the button.

This is me, circa 1981 with my super cool Big Wheels trike. I was one of the only girls on my block and could keep up with the big boys on that thing. Obviously, the blue jumper was my mother’s choice but the scowl was all me. I guess I can stop wondering where Graham picked up that same scowl.

Has anyone else noticed that these fashions are making a comeback? I’m not so sure I’m ready to wear leggings and feather my hair again anytime soon.

I had one of those! Me and my best friend Pam from down the street would ride them up and down the block fighting over who got to be Pinky, and who was Leather Tuskedaro. Good times.

I’m sorry but I’m still stuck on the fact that in 81 you were on a big wheel while I was in the 11th grade

You look adorable, scowl and all. I loved Big Wheels. Wouldn’t that be great if we could just climb on one of those again and ride off into the sunset?

And yes, feathered hair scares me!

my eyes hadn’t quite opened all the way yet … and i kept blinking at the 1961 … and i thought … holy … she’s a lot older than i thought …
    then my eyes cooperated.
i always wanted a big wheel.

Haha…so cute! I’ll bet you not only kept up with the boys but you look like you probably kicked some tail on your Big Wheel! (I was never allowed to have one either, my Dad always said they were too low and drivers would not be able to see us…ha! we just used one of the hundreds of neighborhood big wheels…I’m still here!!)

We never got to have a Big Wheel for the same reasons that Peggy mentioned…but the neighbor kids had one, and they were nice enough to share. πŸ˜‰ You are SO CUTE!! πŸ™‚ I’m going to have to have my mom send me some pictures so I can play along – FFF looks like so much fun! πŸ™‚

You look adorable!! I wanted one of those bikes, but never got one. Poor me. I did however have awesome purple barrettes too. Were yours plastic and shaped like animals???? Because in my world, that was like the only kind that existed.

Gees, you were a cute kid! Even with the scowl. And, uh, thanks for the buzzkill–you were riding your big wheel, I was graduating from high school. Sigh.

I actually am comptemplating getting Sprite a Big Wheels since they have them for toddlers now. Her tricycle doesn’t seem to be cutting it.

I had a little trike, but not a big wheel. So left out. *sigh* I think I owned this same outfit though. And the scowl. πŸ™‚

I can’t believe some of the looks I was so eager to see fall out of fashion are making a comeback!! I think that means we are officially old when the clothes we used to wear start coming back into style for the next generation. Ugh.

that picture is classic! it must have been taken with a nice camera because technically speaking it is very good. good DOF (depth of field).

you are so cute! my bff always had a scowl on her face too, especially in pictures. we called it her trademark evil eye.

    thanks for playing!

I’m voting yes on the leggings and no on the hair-feathering. I never was that good at it the first time around.

I remember being in the girls’ bathroom with my friends when I was about 8, feathering our hair. That was in the 70’s, though. The early 80’s still looked a lot like the 70’s to me! Then Madonna made a video and the 80’s style really kicked in.
