Count Down To Food Fest

November 9, 2008 7:00 am

The above picture was of my brothers and I on Thanksgiving day in the early eighties. I just realized that there are only eighteen more days until Thanksgiving. Let me clarify, there are eighteen more days until American Thanksgiving, sorry Captain and Keely. Those damn Canadians need you to clarify EVERYTHING.

All of you HASAY peeps know that you’re going to blow it on that day but I’m ok with the idea. I realized going into this club that the holidays are around the corner but I did it anyways. You guys joined too so you can’t complain. I’ve come to see the holidays as minor setbacks, the same as me eating my ass off this entire weekend while my SIL is here. I plan on getting back on track after her plane takes off on Monday morning and I’m not feeling bad about it either. So there.

I’ll keep this post short (since I’m hiding in the bathroom PRETENDING to pee) but I just wanted to state the fact that I’m planning on eating everything in sight come Thanksgiving day. I hope you’ll do the same since there is safety in numbers and I don’t want to be the only fatty after Turkey Day. I’ll be back on Monday to catch up on all of your bloggy goodness, I’ve missed you guys this weekend!

Don’t hate me but I am going for the opposite approach. I’m going to stick to WW’s and try some new receipes for the holidays while still keeping up with our traditions. I don’t blame anyone for eating with wild abandon through the next few months though! Love ya!

All I can say is, HELLS to the YEAH. Bring it on. Not to be irresponsible, I’d be totally back on the wagon Friday (possibly). But I have resolved not to eat myself sick and serve myself reasonable human sized portions vs. the ape sized scoops of the food stuffs I usually slap on there.

    We’re a simple folk, eh?

I’m glad I have the Thanksgiving out of the way, and now I only have to deal with the Xmas turkey…and the baking…and the chocolate…and the candy canes…

    argh.

As a vegetarian living among omnivores Thanksgiving is especially difficult (logistically not weight wise). It’s that whole what spoon/pan/cutting board touch what deal.

You’ll do great whatever road you chose, all out gluttony or slimmed down portions.

I make Thanksgiving Dinner. So by the time everything is on the table, I’m too tired to eat….and I’m still thinking about what I have to do to the fresh turkey before it was cooked! YUCK!

It’s the day after that troubles me!

Hah! I knew your were posting in the bathroom!

What is going to toss me off the Hasay wagon and then run me right over … are the endless appetizers on Thanksgiving. the dips … the chips … the cheeses. I know! Mom’s is only four miles from me. I’ll walk there and back!

Just don’t eat the table linens. That kind of fiber will NOT get things moving..

I love that you have a picture of yourself from the early 80′s. :)

My family always made such a big to do over Thanksgiving. I would help my grandmother and we cooked up a FEAST worth of kings. Now that it’s just me and mine, I do it on a much smaller scale.

Have no fear there will be all the favorites on my Thanksgiving plate but I will at the very least head to the gym on Black Friday. :D

My mom will be cooking if she doesn’t go to visit my aunt. This means I will be the pig of all pigs. She is an awesome cook. It also means a walk in the country (while praying the local hunters don’t mistake me for a moose and shoot me) will be part of the day.

HA!!! This was a speed post?!? Done during the time it normally takes to pee?!? I am impressed!!! and LMAO!

It’s hard to get a moment to yourself, huh? You are hilarious!

I was a little depressed at the start of the post. You looked real cute in the early 80′s, but then I remembered I graduated from medical school in 1980! I keep telling myself that age doesn’t matter, that I’m as young as I feel, but that is just something old people say. sigh!
