Holy Cuteness – Halloween Version

October 12, 2008 7:00 am

I love October. Not just the thirty-first, I love the entire month leading up to that day. When October rolls around, the hot Florida sun seems to lighten up on us a little bit. The air gets cooler in the morning (yes, it’s still 85 in the afternoon but it’s something). The stores are packed with CANDY and people decorate their houses and yards for Halloween. This is such an exciting time and it brings me back to my childhood. See the little witch below? That’s me. I’m carrying my favorite Snoopy pillowcase and if I recall correctly, I damn near filled it up that night. It took me about twenty five years to go from a cute little witch to a big huge bitch but I did it. Impressive, right?

Here I am with my brothers, my mom made the costumes for us. She was that kind of mom, we didn’t have money growing up but she made us all costumes using old fabric scraps and they always turned out great.  Me, I ordered my kid’s costumes online. Times have really changed, haven’t they? If I knew how to sew, I might attempt to make theirs but I fear they’d turn out looking more like my son’s macaroni artwork that he brings home from school.

I went looking for pictures of Graham from last year. I can’t believe how much he’s changed, look at that baby face! Now he’s so old and mature (yeah, right). Tantrumy and toddlerish is more like it but we still have moments of sweetness mixed in.

Last year Graham went as a monkey. When I say “went”, I don’t know what I mean since we didn’t even go trick-or-treating. We dressed him up for my parents and then on Halloween night we brought him to see a few neighbors before it was time for him to go to bed. He did enjoy sitting in the entryway greeting all of the trick-or-treaters that came by.

Look at that monkey face. Doesn’t it make you want to just die from it’s cuteness?

Here he is hanging out with another monkey friend. Primates like to stick together.

And here I am with my little monkey.

This year Graham is going as the Cookie Monster and Elliot will be an elephant (not to be confused with party affiliation). I have zero creative juices flowing here but we love the Cookie Monster song and Graham loves elephants. I figured if I dress his sister up as one, there might be a chance he’ll love her too. Don’t worry, I’ll post pictures of this year’s cuteness when it transpires.

That is one cute little monkey. Way better than having one of those weird little monkeys that people dress like babies. Love the ones of you and your brothers, your mom is talented.

Haven’t faced up to my dreaded feeds… used to have an easier time with it from my previous blog. now feedburner is an exhibition round, plus rigging the template for feeds is driving me nuts.

  7. Petra

Cute monkey! That’s what my daughter is going as this year! I love the pics of you from Halloween!

  8. Sprite's Keeper

Oh, how cute! How much did you bribe him to stay in the monkey suit? Sprite lasted 2 minutes in her puppy suit before the pictures I was trying to take would look too damning if entered for evidence.

  9. mrsbear

I gave you an award today, no pressure. 😉

    They are way cute!
It is a fun time of year. For the parents, Florida is probably more fun than Toledo, Ohio. I remember most of our trick or treating being done in cold rainy weather. But nobody seems to really mind. Candy takes care of everything!

I LOL’d at “… from a cute little witch to a big huge bitch.” I totally disagree. You are a really cute bitch. ; )

No worries, I’m a bitch, too.

You were an adorable witch. (I almost typed bitch instead of witch.)

Also, your little one was an adorable monkey. I love his hair, too. Way cute.
